June Designated As Dystonia Awareness Month

In an article I just read, June has been designated as Dystonia awareness month! This is great news for many reasons, but most of all this means that more and more people have been properly diagnosed and more medical research and attention can go towards finding out what causes Dystonia and how we can come up with better, healthier treatments.

This may be old news to others who have Dystonia, but this is the first I'm hearing about June being an awareness month. Let's all try to make a conscious effort each June and wear the color blue, or even a shirt or pin that says Dystonia awareness month on it. We need to make more people aware. With all the research i had to do in college for psychology, I'm sure if I did a study on how many of us with Dystonia are sick and tired of having to explain to people and other doctors what Dystonia was, the numbers would be astronomical.
